Where Piero Meets Dr. Seuss

These paintings of interiors examine the spaces we inhabit and the subtle ways they reflect our lives.  Ultimately, my work asks how the inhabited spaces - architectural and physical boundaries -- shape our sense of identity, memory, and belonging.

This group of paintings are driven by invention based on observed reality.   How little is needed to create a sense of lived space? The paintings each have their own harmony, but also interact with each other, like a theme and variations, or a visual journey with many possible paths.  Their simple compositions and bold colors resonate on one hand with the early Renaissance flat planes of Piero della Francesca, and on the other with the playful illustrations and themes of Dr. Seuss.
